Winley Records was founded in 1956 as a doo wop label featuring artists like The Paragons and The Jesters. In the 1970s, Paul Winley Records released Harlem Underground Band’s classic funk song “Smokin’ Cheeba Cheeba.” It also released some of the earliest hip-hop records, such as “Zulu Nation Throw Down.”
